CoastOBX Article "Tennis tourney fundraiser for Dare Hospice set for Oct. 20-22"

15th Annual TowneBank/Southern Insurance Agency

Charity Classic Tennis Tournament

TowneBank/Southern Insurance Agency is once again the title sponsor of the 15th Annual TowneBank/Southern Insurance Agency Charity Classic Tennis Tournament. This tournament is the signature fundraiser for Dare Hospice, a service of the Dare County Department of Health and Human Services. Thanks to their support and the community’s support, the tournament has raised over $240,000 for Dare County Hospice Services over the past 14 years. This three day tournament will be played October 20-22 at Duck Woods Country Club and Westside Athletic Club. Proceeds raised are used to support the hospice volunteer program, hospice care and support for under or uninsured individuals and families facing terminal illnesses.

Left to Right: Taylor Sugg, TowneBank Regional President, Laura Willingham, Outer Banks Tennis Association President, Sheila Davies, Dare County Health Director, Robert Wells, Southern Insurance Agency President.

Article by Michele Young-Stone, OBTA Junior Team Tennis Coordinator published in the Outer Banks Child - Spring 2017 Issue,

The OBTA hosts USTA play days for the youth and families of the region.  The counties that the OBTA serves are the eastern most counties in North Carolina (Currituck and Dare Counties).

The enthusiasm of the OBTA is contagious and dedication to making tennis fun for everyone coupled with organized play opportunities is keeping tennis on the forefront in Northeastern North Carolina.
